LOST IN WANDERLUST. BY MAHIMA ARYA

Many people say they want to travel, but only a few get to experience the world's wonders. Travel means different things to different people: some go to escape their daily lives, others to take their children on vacation, and still others to find themselves, but not me. I want to make a career out of travelling.I've never desired a conventional life, one from which I feel compelled to flee, one filled with discontent and comfort. I've never wanted to be stuck in an office building all day, unable to leave when it's time. I've always desired more, and it's possible. Traveling means finding yourself lost in the most amazing ways. To me, travel entails getting up at 4 a.m. to get to the best spot to watch the sunrise. It means getting lost in a different country without Google maps and turning it into a whole new adventure. It entails attempting to communicate in broken English and being grateful that the other person is willing to make an effort to understand you. It entails developing patience and taking acceptance to new heights. Making friends with the locals and respecting their culture is what travel means to me. It entails spending time in dive bars and local restaurants because a passing acquaintance recommended it to you. It entails going places to truly explore rather than simply going places to say you've been there. It recognises that staying in one country for a month is preferable to cramming in three. To me, travel means meeting people you would never have met otherwise and treating them like family. It's putting your trust in people you barely know and hoping that everything will work out in the end. It's a strong desire to see as much as possible and truly live in the moment. When you see someone you don't know struggling and share a piece of your heart with them, you're helping. All I want from travel is to bask in the bliss I am experiencing and to learn to appreciate every moment that life brings me. I want to form relationships that will make me cry when I have to say goodbye. I want to learn everything I can about the cultures and lifestyles of everyone I meet. I want to inhale strange air and exhale fear and uncertainty. I want to believe that where I am is exactly where I should be. I want to see beyond what's right in front of me and learn to appreciate the world for what it truly is. This is what travel means to me: living fully, accepting others, learning in every way possible, and allowing the world to shape you into the best person you can truly be. Because, to me, travel is far more valuable than money.
